Book Insights: Life Lessons You’ll Learn From Brida by Paulo Coelho
As what I've heard from self-development seminars and talks I've attended, reading books is essential to incorporate in our daily lives. Apart from the fact that it gives us a break from work/businesses, it is something that can make us productive. Whenever we read, we learn something new, regardless if it's fiction or not. I have made my first ever book review sharing things I've learned from Jonathan Yabut's Single, Taken or Building My Empire. Now, from entrepreneurial stuff I've been mentioning lately, let's switch from something refreshing: fiction. Here I am to share one of the best books I've read which can really teach you life lessons: Brida by Paulo Coelho.

What can you learn from reading Brida?
1. The book tells you to experience things.
Never be ashamed. Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.
Brida is a story about experiencing things and with this part, it tells us that once we get our focus, we should fully drink it. Sure there are lots of experience, opportunities out there and the story of Brida encourages us to face them all. Every experience will create lessons for us but once we got the right opportunities that will be with us for the rest of our lives, commit to it, drink the whole bottle.
Drink everything, but make sure you drink the appropriate thing. In life, we might be faced with different opportunities. How sure are you that this is the suitable one?
2. The book tells you to take risks.
But how will I know who my Soul Mate is? You could tell your Soul Mate by the light in their eyes, and since time began, that has been how people have recognized their true love. By taking risks. By risking failure, disappointment, disillusion, but never ceasing in your search for love. As long as you keep looking, you will triumph in the end.
Brida is also a story of a search for love. However, it is not the usual, fancy love we see. Brida is ready to risk everything to reach one of her goals which is to find her soulmate. Same with our goals in life, if we're very eager to reach something, we must not settle in our comfort zones. We should take risks because that's how we also improve ourselves.
Taking risks, will indeed lead you to beautiful summits.
3. The book tells you to develop yourself and let go of the things which are not important.
Choosing a path meant having to miss out on others. She had a whole life to live, and she was always thinking that, in the future, she might regret the choices she made now.
Do you believe that in order to get what you want, you have to let go of other things as well? Brida's story teaches that, too. Having to let go of things enables you to create a tunnel vision, a very focused outlook in life so whatever you want to achieve, you don't get distracted by things that could suddenly come out. With this, things that don't matter is something that should not be considered and you will feel less regrets in the future.
Having a tunnel vision enables your focus. If you think of looking back or get distracted by the darkness around, you would have a hard time reaching the light at the end of it.
